In The Kitchen With Elloise

7K's week four Hospitality lesson was extremely exciting ..... it was our first lesson actually cooking and preparing something in the kitchen!!! We prepared Smoothies. In a pair with Caitlin, we gathered our ingredients - half a frozen banana (sliced lengthways), approximately a punnet of strawberries, 10 ice- cubes and some milk. Then we gathered all our small utensils - chopping board and two small knives, along with a blender  and then proceeded to follow the next steps:

1. Cut your banana into small and even slices.
2. Take the top and very end off the strawberries and then cut in half (or even quarters).
3. Now put your milk, ice cubes and fruit into the blender and turn it on.
4. Proceed to mix and blend the ingredients together with the blender on level 3-4 for around 5-10 minutes.
5. Slowly turn off the blender and pour smoothies into glasses.
6. Add a straw or paper umbrellas to add some flair and creativeness to the presentation of your smoothie.
7. Now, DRINK!

I found that the taste of the Smoothies were very balanced and smooth whilst still having some fruit to chew on and to add some texture.

The clean-up worked very well as everyone contributed to clean up their own belongings that they borrowed and used from the kitchen and wipe down the bench space they occupied.

Overall this was a wonderful experience as I have never made Smoothies before and this was my first time doing hospitality. I very much look forward to the rest of the semester's hospitality lessons!
